Our dining room isn't formal, by any stretch of the imagination, and I'm no decorating diva so I'm not looking for anything formal or fancy.
I'd love something nice and long like this:

I think the kitchen/dining room table is one of the most important places in the house. Eating together as a family is something I insist on daily. I like hearing about the kids day. I like sitting together after dinner and talking. I love playing around with them while we have our special dessert after family worship on Friday nights. Playing cards with Rob. Lingering over a glass of wine while talking. Laughing so hard milk comes shooting out of your nose. A lot of good, happy memories happen at the family table...
...even if we are all sitting on each other's laps. :-)

Ohhhh that is pretty!!
We always had family dinners when the boys were growing up. We still do that whenever they are home. Bill and I always eat together, of course....unless there's a ballgame he wants to watch. Then, he's on his own!
We have a kitchen table in our dining room. That's just how we roll. It has two inserts, so it can be three different sizes. It's lasted us for years! Whatever you buy, make sure it's sturdy! ;-)
I agree. The table is the heart of the home:-)
Are. those. white. cushions??? BAHAHAHA! ;) No, seriously, that is a pretty table. We have a hand-me-down. It's the table my hubby grew up eating at and it was an antique before his parents bought it. Problem? They were a family of 4, and we are 6. We're going to be like the family on The Middle and two of the kids will be pulling up a lawn chair. ;)
That's a nice table.
We ended up switching our smaller breakfast room table for our formal dining table after Eli moved out of his highchair. It was impossible to get five chairs around a square table made for 4 chairs:) I hope you find a new bigger table soon!
I love it! We bought our table in Iceland. I can't get rid of it because of that but it really is getting small for us too.
My number one rule is dinner together! I hope you find a table you like and will fit you all!
I agree!!! Love that table! Stick some benches next to it and you can pile a bunch of kiddos all around it :O)
Very nice table...hope you find what you are looking for.
Lovin' that table! :D
That looks like a great new table! I hope you find one of your dreams.
Hugs & love,
Mimi
I've been feeling that way about our kitchen table lately too. It's just too small for us all to lounge around comfortably and doesn't fit well in it's space. Too bad my hubs won't let me buy a new one! :)
And on a totally different note...if you get a chance shoot me an email w/ your addy and I'll mail those cute jammies back to you...I squeezed Charlie's chubby self in them as long as I could! :)
Couldnt agree more with that, very attractive article
If you or your husband have a DIY bent at all you could always build a great table! My favorite DIY website has plans for a farmhouse table that anybody can build (http://ana-white.com/2009/12/plans-farmhouse-table-knock-off-of.html) She has modifications for a longer, thinner table too.
I found your blog through the MT page of themomblogs.com!
