Seriously? What in the WORLD were the parents of these girls thinking?? REALLY?! I don't care if it's a dance competition - there isn't any reason to have your 8-9 year old girls barely dressed and gyrating on stage.
Apparently the parents see nothing wrong with it and think that if other people view it in a sexual context then it's the fault of the person watching. They never intended for the video to go viral or for a large audience to see it - just the dance competition crowd and judges. Oh, well, HA! Then I stand corrected. That sure makes it ok.
One of the mothers said:
“It’s one of the most popular songs probably of the decade, said Presch . “The costumes are designed for movement, unrestricted movement and to show body lines.”
Next time just grab some pasties, tassels and a g-string. Not a big difference.
Yes, this is me being judgmental.
Disgusting.

Totally my POV! We have similar programs here in India and I'm always like, " What the heck...?" Don't TV channels have some form of censorship or something??
I saw this and it made me sick in my stomach....what were these parents thinking to allow their children to wear that outfit and be in that performance. I kept waiting for a stripper pole to appear any minute when I watched it....YUCK!
I wish I could see the video but from your description, I am probably better off. I am so sick and tired of the over sexualization of our girls! We are better than that People!!
It wouldn't let me view it due to a copyright claim. It's just as well. I'm mad enough just by your description.
Body lines??? WTF?!
Video's gone. I don't get to be judgmental with you. Darn it all. But I'll take your word for it.
I agree, but i am not surprised at all. A lot of young girls dance studios have been pushing the limits with the outfits, makeup, and booty pops. Gross!
I was able to see it before they pulled it!
And THIS would be the reason I will NOT allow my daughter in DANCE! Even though she'd LOVE it and she begs me....there's no way.
I want a NORMAL (fully clothed) ballet class. That's it.
This kind of makes me glad I only have boys! There are no super sexy uniforms in tball:) I don't think it would have been that bad if it would have been that dance in different clothes...or those clothes with a different dance. But the two together was just way too much for little girls!
The sad thing is that these girls are going to have so many issues with this as they get older. I read somewhere that the end of each civilzation (the reason Rome burned, etc.) included the objectifying of women. We certainly seem to be there in our society. Scary.
Stick with ballet! This is truly disgusting, Heidi. What is the worst part is that those girls are wonderful dancers! Too bad their parents are not so wonderful!
I totally agree with you. They are too young to be dressing and dancing like that!
Know what? Those moves were illegal for my high schools dance company back in the day. And these girls are way too young to do the bump and grind. Don't care that it was a dance competition or not.
I agree with you whole-heartedly. I saw someone said that the girls don't think they're doing anything wrong. Yeah, because they're BABIES! They need us, the ADULTS, to teach them that! Sheesh! My daughters will NOT be doing this. Not, not, NOT!
Great dancers, poor song, and costume choice. Very poor choices! What disgusts me the most is that all these parents approved. Competition or not, viewed by the whole world, or just that room, it never should have been. I'm with you Heidi!
What I mean by great dancers is that they seem to have great rhythm. I do not condone their style of dance in this video at all!
ugh i have a hard time watching that..the outfits, the movements...sooo bad for a 7 year old. NO WAY.
No joke...that is just crazy.
Wow, that's crazy. What's next for these little girls?!
Wow...just, wow.
Yikes. I think almost anyone would agree this was grossly inappropriate. Mainly because they were EIGHT year olds.
But I also want to add I am getting sick of pop culture and dancing competetion in general being so darn sexual. My husband and I no longer allow our children to watch Dancing With The Stars without editing it- and it's a good thing we do since last night Pamela Anderson was literally wearing lingerie to perform a (dance?) with three men. It looked like an orgy set to music. What does that have to do with dancing, I'd like to know????
So very not ok.
