Say you're doing the dishes, and the dishwasher is full - but you still have a sink full of dishes left. What do you do?
A) Rinse and stack them neatly, to load into the dishwasher after it's done
B) Wash them by hand and get them done
C) Try and shove them in the Dishwasher - just run it twice if you need to
What is your reasoning for the answer you chose?

I rinse them and and leave them there till the dishwasher is done :)
Why? cause I loathe hand washing and I'm lazy. ;)
I would wash them by hand and get them done. Just so you can move on to other things. Besides, if you dishwasher if plum full you prolly don't have that many to do by hand.
AND
I would much rather do dishes than wash laundry. :P
PLUS
I have not used a dishwasher for over 20 years. I prefer to do them by hand.
SO
I was not the best person to reply to this post.
hehehe
I rinse them, stack them not so neatly and sometimes I even leave them sitting in nasty water for the dishwasher to stop.
I do this because I am inherently lazy. I don't mind washing dishes, but I always leave something behind. I have a hard time drying them without nasty streaks. My dishwasher is not lazy, in fact she is a consumate professional. She gets everything off and dries without streaks. She even holds the dishes for me until I'm ready to put them away. I think I need to go hug my dishwasher.
I have done A and B...I suppose I go ahead and wash them most of the time. I love a clean sink.
D) Leave them. When dishwasher is clean and empty, reload then. Pray that husband will do them in the meantime (that has yet to happen).
Emily stole my answer...although every once in a while my hubby will do them for me!
Something between a and c. I rarely do dishes by hand. Although I do wash Blue's tubes, syringes and other medical stuff every day, sometimes twice a day.
Rise and leave! Mostly because I am lazy...and I like the squeeky clean-ness of dishes out of the dishwasher!
B, because I find washing dishes theraputic...but not putting them away, that's why I have kids. :-)
I would wash them by hand. I hadn't had a dishwasher in YEARS until we moved into the new house in December. I ALSO had no washer/ dryer so I had to go to the laundromat. Yuck!
PS. One of my biggest pet peeves with Sean is that he refuses to rinse out his OJ glass in the morning. He also refuses to rince his knife that he uses for peanut butter. I HATE dried on Peanut Butter!
No dishwasher. We do dishes by hand. Not so bad now that the oldest two help me. We each have dish days. :) We try to do them after each meal so they don't pile up.
i'm with answer d above!! unless they're really nasty. i've been blessed with a hubby who doesn't mind loading and unloading the dishwasher, so he usually does it!
I don't have a dish washer!!!!I do them by hand at least 2 times a day. So I don't want to hear any complaining>>>>;)LOL!
If I did have one I would do C, because I would use it every second I could!!!
I usually wash what's left over by hand (B) because I can't stand the mess. I do rinse the glasses and leave them for the next load. Something about glasses. Maybe I feel I can't get them as clean by hand?
I would probably wash by hand because since I've become a flybaby (flylady.net) I can't STAND to have anything IN or NEAR my sink! It must be clean at all times. Ha. Truly, it is a problem.
So ... the dishes would be washed and put away.
If it is the big stuff that is left I do them by hand. If not, I leave them there until the dish washer is empty!
A, because why wash by hand if you have a dish washer to do it for you? and then B, if there are big ones that won't fit or special ones that can't go in the d.w.
If my husband answered this poll, he would say, "None of the Above...the Magic Sink Fairy washes, dries, and puts away the clean dishes for me to use the next day".
There is apparently also a laundry fairy, a dirty diaper fairy, and a vacuum fairy.
Too bad there's not a sex fairy.
I have to say that I do all 3 at different times. It depends on my mood and how lazy I am feeling at the moment.
Ummm....my dishwasher is broken:-(
Usually C! But sometimes I will also just leave them in the sink until the next day:)
Funny question! I had to think about it for awhile. I think I would say {B}. I sometimes think washing dishes is therapeutic, but only when I CHOOSE to do them rather than HAVE to do them! ;)
I would wash them by hand to get them clean and out of the way. Also, if I rinsed them and set them aside and waited for the first load to come out of the dishwasher, I would probably go back to find that I had FORGOTTEN to start the dishwasher anyway...
Rinse 'em and leave 'em.
I just have too much other crap to do to sit and wash dishes by hand. Not to mention I HATE doing it.
Another lesson, when the sink is piling up, I start using styrofoam plates because I'm tired and could care a rats butt for the environment. ;) It's all about what makes MY life easier.
I, too, would do "d."
You get them kids to do the damn dishes, skip the dishwasher thing completely. I say as soon as they are tall enough to reach the sink, show them how to use it!!! What are those kids for anyhow? Target practice?
D
I am the dishwasher..no machine, yet.
It totally depends on my mood. If I'm not too lazy I will wash them by hand just so it's all done. But there are times where I just stack them and run the dishwasher again. I really do hate to stand and wash dishes though! :P
Most often my answer would be A. Only then I end up having to rinse them all over again after they get stacked upon by more dirty dishes because I'm too lazy to empty the clean ones in the dishwasher.
leave them in the sink unrinsed until the dishwasher is empty. I am lazy like that.
I do not load the dishwasher at my house. But I instruct my daughter to leave them in the sink and load them again when they are done. :) I do not wash dishes by hand so I guess I can't expect her too. :) I'm lazy like that too!
I usually do B.
I hate dishes.
I hate to wash dishes. Therefore if the dishwasher is full, the sink full of dishes stays where they are, dirty and all. The only way I will do dishes is if it is a holiday and the entire family is coming over. Did I mention I HATE TO DO DISHES?
Have a great day!
Ah..I hate doing dishes. But I'd rather do dishes than cook. And a real reason not to cook is so I don't have any dishes to do afterwards. If only the people in this house could survive on chewable multi-vitamins!
So, my answer is "A) Rinse and stack them neatly, to load into the dishwasher after it's done"...but I'd probably not even bother with the rinse and stack neatly part.
Totally A! I have just had a dishwasher for the last couple of years, so I am totally over hand washing!
