From a Mama to Obama.

Dear President Obama,

I hope you enjoyed your recent trip to Montana. I hope you came away from it knowing that we are actually civilized human beings a long way from Washington that have some valid concerns. Concerns about where our jobs are going. Concerns about where we are going to get healthcare from and where the sense is in penalizing people that can't afford it.

Also, perhaps you saw that since it rained and hailed and was barely 75 degrees this weekend, Global Warming isn't a major concern here. We're kind of freezing.

I did want to talk to you about one thing, though. I'm a little irritated so I'll try and be kind.

Yellowstone is a beautiful site to behold, isn't it? All of the wonderful forces of nature coming together to create such awesome sites? I know. We took the family there this last weekend to see it. Did you know it was free entrance weekend at the park? We did. Did you know that it's a huge weekend (traffic wise) because many families can't afford the per car entry fee AND gas to go to Yellowstone? We did. Did you know that when you decide to visit Old Faithful in the middle of one of the busiest weekends that it shut down not only the visitors center, lodge and Old Faithul but the entire freaking road THROUGH the park? We did.

Cars were backed up for MILES and many ended up turning around because it was lunch time and people needed to eat. Gone were the plans to eat at the lodge. Gone were the plans to picnic and go see all of the geysers such as Daisy and Old Faithful. Gone were the patience of parents with carloads of screaming, bored, HUNGRY children. Parents that had to take their children to the roadside to potty and ended up getting peed on by said children.

A thousand people were allowed to stay in the area while you and your family saw Old Faithful. That's probably about 1/10th of the amount of people that were in the park. The rest of us were waiting, not so patiently, to go in or get by.

My youngest, Brennan, made a little video for you that just sums it all up. Hope you enjoy:

Truly, Madly, Deeply,
The Potter Family

heidi - interesting letter. Did you actually send it? I heard he reads 10 letters a day so it's worth a chance. I was thinking of sending him a few myself.

So did this Yellowstone incident lose your vote for him? Being from the greater Chicagoland area I expected we would have even greater traffic jams when he visits home. So far they minimize the problem with helicopters.

Of course, anything he does will draw out some critics no matter what.

Our right to criticize is valuable but babies crying and whining really do attention. How long was the ride? For your ears and peace of mind, I hope he settled down and took a nap.

That is a neat little baby trick you have there!!!

I would have been mad at anyone that was holding up traffic so yeah, Mr Pres, that would be you too...hope the geiser went off for him...;)

That sucks! I know there are security reasons and all of that, but you'd think (being the President and all) he would be privy to the things he is interrupting!! If it makes you feel any better I got peed on today by Natey. we stopped at the Bakery and he wouldn't get in his seat until I let him pee...standing facing out of the car door, into the street. Yeah for moms and freakin potty training!

Even though B was upset, I loved how he took his cues. Poor baby.

Cute new pictures of your kiddos. Oh, new one of your hubby too. He's cute too.

I hope you did send the letter. What the h.e. double hockey sticks is up with that?

Unbelievable. But B is still adorable, even when he's fussing.

That's right B. He's supposed to be all about the people but he know nothing about the real people. I mean, why kind of man much less a president makes a little baby cry!?

Gosh, Heidi, I can't believe that you were tormenting that poor baby, scaring him so badly! ;)

My hubby was quick to point out that by going to Yellowstone on free entrance weekend Mr. Obama saved the American taxpayers tons of money, since he didn't have to pay for himself or any of the hundreds of people who had to accompany him. :(
