Iron Chef: July
Welcome, welcome! If you're new here and don't know what this Iron Chef thing is all about, you can get the gist of it, here.
I'm really excited about the theme for this month's Iron Chef!! I think it's important for kids to help out in the kitchen, don't you? I think it helps to foster a love (or at least understanding) of cooking. And not just the girls, but the boys, too.
We've just checked out this book from the library and are planning to use it to plan our menu over the next few weeks. It's exciting! My girls are forced to help plan, cook and clean up a meal every week. The enjoy all but the cleaning up part. HA!
So, now I'm inviting you and yours to play along. This month's theme is Kid Chefs. I'm looking for kid's that cook a meal - easy or hard, as long as THEY do it. There's no pride in doing your kids science project for them, is there? No. Shame, shame, shame.
Ask your kid if they want to play along. Have THEM pick the recipe they want to post and post it. If they're chosen, they have to COMMIT to trying the other two recipes, as well. The guest judges (minus the popular opinion) are all kids this time around, too. The recipe needs to be easy enough for kids' to make with adult supervision and MINOR help.
So, post and let me know when you do. I'll link you up at the end of this post. Next Wednesday I'll use random.org to choose the 3 finalists and post links to their recipes. Then it's just..yk..game on.
Ready? Bring it.

That is a great idea Heidi! My daughter would be all over that since mixing things in the kitchen is like a game for her.
I met with some bloggers last night. I think you know Mimi. There are pics on my post today if you want to check them out.
Love,

Damn. If I let my 2 year old pick he'll say mac n cheese. It's not even the kind you have to boil and make either, but the easy mac that goes in the microwave for 3 minutes. Man!!
Totally cute idea. I'm going to have to see what this Iron Chef thingy is all about. With four kids, one an aspiring pastry chef, I might be able to come up with something.
Hey Heidi! Pop over, I tagged you for an award!
Sounds good, Alexis would love to help. As a matter of fact I just ordered her a custom made chef's hat and apron for her birthday. She will be very excited.
That's an intriguing idea! When is the deadline for submitting?
Here is the first subbmission from my trio:

The kids are excited - thanks for the great theme this month!
Not sure if this will work since it isn't much of a "meal" but my son was pretty excited and we had fun making it, so we'll give it a shot:

Quick question... does it have to be a main course or will a dessert work? Two of my four are ready to play!
Okay, dokey - here is my third kiddo's entry... hope others enter soon or else this could be tricky. :)
