Last night after I got out of the shower, I heard a familiar song. The girls were downstairs sleeping in the tent we set up in the living room and I wondered aloud to Rob, "I think they're watching our wedding video." We kind of laughed and then I said, "Crap..I hope the reception's not on that video!" And down the stairs I came.
They were, indeed, watching the wedding and I sat down with them just in time to hear the vows. Rob and I sure promised each other a lot. I'm going to have to go back and see if he's upholding his end of the bargain. (I apparently agreed to greet him with a smile each day. *buzzer sound* FAIL.) We were pronounced man and wife, the pastor prayed and then we made out in front of God and everyone at our church.
The problem came when the pastor was praying. He prayed for health and happiness and love. He prayed for wisdom and guidance. He prayed for all those good, happy, shiney, rainbow things. Then he prayed for enough adversity to keep us together. Just enough trouble to keep us hand in hand. Enough hard times to keep us on our knees.
Yeah.
This is all HIS fault. Sienna's brain junk, B's surgery stuff, Corban's sensory disorder, the marriage problems, us losing our house, the Jerry Springer family drama, both of us working our butt's off and having nothing to show for it? All that pastor's fault. I *knew* it wasn't our fault!
I fully intend to sue him. He's a pastor, he's probably rolling in the dough, right? Drivin' a caddy, wearing pimped out suits, solicitating "donations". We're gonna be rich.
I highly suggest you dig out your wedding video and see if your pastor is at fault for your life troubles, too. Maybe we can get, like, a class action lawsuit going or something.

Lol! I will have to take a look at mine! Thanks for the heads up:)
Hope you have a great day!
lol
My kids have watched ours enough recently I know I would have no ground to stand on. Aw...too bad. :)
I wanna know why you were concerned about them seeing the reception!
lol...I think our big theme was 'wherever you go, I will go'. Our pastor had us say that to one another. Let me just say if I had taken that literally in every sense of the word...it wouldn't have been a very pretty year in our house!
Go for it Heidi...you could start a really nasty trend! (as if Christians don't have a bad enough name already)
I have no video to reference. Darn, I knew it would have come in handy some day. Oh well!
I am sad to say that my Mom taped over our wedding video of her and her friends out on their RTV's or Gators is what they call them. It was a sad day. At least we have pictures.
I was cracking up reading this post. LOL
Crap! The pastor that married us was my dad's best friend. He is practically like a father to me so he (and mom) would be really pissed if I sued him for all my adversity! Oh well, best of luck with your lawsuit!
lol
My pastor was my dad. So that whole thing is ripe for conflict or therapy or something. And I can assure you - unless my Dad is hiding his Caddy and super-secret-fantastic life in his bat-cave, the only thing you'll probably get from suing your pastor is a library of reference books. Probably expensive reference books. But do you really want to read several commentaries on the topic of Leviticus? ;)
Hmmm ... you *might* be on to something here!
My mom would always say, "be careful what you pray for!" lol
We didn't get married in a church by a pastor so, I think we are good.
You're right! I never thought of that! Darn it though, we didn't videotape our wedding - just the reception. I guess I can check it out and see if Hubs is keeping up his end of the deal as far as treating me like the goddess I think I should be...
I saw a lawyer on TV that probably would take the case. He had a lot of law books behind him...so he must be good.
Agreed. Do my vows count if the Pastor called us Corey and Seth {corey's brother?} what kind of beginning of marriage is that?!?
lol, I didn't see this coming. Good point!
We just sell the merchandise, ma'am, we dont guarantee the outcome. God Bless and keep on making those babies.
Oh no...my dad is a pastor. I will have to listen more careful when he does weddings as to what he prays over them. Too funny.
We didn't have a video made or else I might have a case. We also have gone through a lot of the trails you mentioned and are one kid less so I am in awe of how you do it and keep your sense of humor. It'll all get better... someday - just wish someday was sooner than later, ya know? :)
