As you travel down the various paths of life, you hopefully learn some things along the way. Some lessons are harder to learn than others, and joy abounds with entirely different lessons. Today I was reflecting upon some of the lessons life has taught me and thought I’d share them with you.
I have learned that you need to laugh at yourself sometimes, no matter how tough it is.
I’ve learned that I am stronger than I think.
I’ve learned what perseverance means, and how it feels to know that you have persevered.
I’ve learned that love is not something that grows untended, marriage is not always easy, and forgiveness takes time.
Children are the source of tremendous joy and heartbreaking pain.
You can’t protect those you love from everything bad, no matter how hard you try.
People will betray you; people will surprise you.
Everyone deserves a second (or third, or fourth…) chance.
God made me special and He loves me very much.
Wendy’s french fries taste fantastic dipped in a frosty.
Some things were just not meant to be, now matter how much you wish that they were.
The grass is never greener on the other side.
From pain comes happiness for if we did not know the feeling of sadness and sorrow, how could we ever experience happiness?
Addiction can overtake you while you aren’t paying attention.
There are no “secrets” to life.
People that you think are your friends will talk about you behind your back.
Friends are made in the least likely places.
The Bible is true.
Love conquers all.
I am not the person I think I am.
Listening to music loudly in the car is a great way to release tension.
Don’t take what you have for granted.
Never make the statement, “It can’t get any worse.”, because it will.
It helps to be a little crazy.
Silliness is a virtue.
Patience never comes easy.
Money, while helpful, isn’t going to solve anything.
Everyone has baggage.
I am worthy of love.
Bad things happen to good people.
The choices I make have a far reaching affect.
There are consequences for everything (good or bad).
You can never have too much knowledge.
It doesn’t matter what color my skin is.
I can never give up hope.
The saying “the only real failure, is the failure to try”, is absolutely true.
Sometimes, when no one is looking, you gotta play a little air guitar or air drums.
No one has all the answers.
It’s easier to tell someone else how to live their life.
No matter how many facts you think you have, you’ll only know part of the story.
The truth is somewhere in the middle.
Get on the floor and play with your kids.
You reap what you sow.
Just a sampling, I assure you. I’m still learning – I hope I never stop – but the lessons change as I get older. And I’m ok with that.

Great lessons!! Thanks for sharing!
Wendys fries dipped in a frosty??? Never did that; and singing along with those songs playing loudly in in your car is good, too. And the kids thing is very true. Good luck with those ones you got, they look mischievous to me.
So true!! And I totally agree, Wendy's french fries should always be eaten dipped in a frosty!
Very nice and a needed reminder. I have heard that when you do see grass that is greener on the other side, it's only because it's growing over a septic tank.
Awesome! Totally should be on one of those long skinny posters hanging up at the dr.'s office or a classroom somewhere.
So true! So true!! And I love the one about Wendy's fries dipped in a Frosty...my fav!!! :)))
I tagged you in a game- check out my latest entry to get the details. I was hoping to get to know you better- I have enjoyed reading your blog. Hope you can play!

I am making my hubby read this post, mostly to prove that someone else dips their fries in the frosty!! I also have specific music for when I need to just have a release and I sing it as loudly as I can in the car!!
so perfect. and i also loves that it helps to be crazy. makes me feel better!
i'm so glad life taught me to dip my fries in my frosty, too!!
i still wonder why i did that for the first time. maybe i ate a fry, then had a bite of frosty and it was good. so i ate another fry, and took a quicker bite of frosty...then another a little closer together. until i finally decided just to dip the fry in it...hmmm, maybe?
That's a great list!.
Love these! I thought I was the only one who dipped fries into my frosty.
I am shaking my head and agree with you...I have learned many of these life lessons.
You are a very wise woman.
Wonderful list. My favorite was about the kids, with the week we have had with behavior I can see both the pain and joy. I think that we could all learn a little from your list. Have a wonderful Thursday.
Fries and frosties, how cool! When I was in high school we would take fries, pour brown gravy on them, and eat them with tartar sauce. Yumm-o. I've never taken the time to write a list like this. I wonder how interesting that would be. Great list, Heidi!
i love the Bible is true - amen to that!!
So fabulous. Thank you for sharing.
missy
